Rolling starts, a fuller grid and a lot more firepower

The demo has been updated. This one is a gameplay pass rather than a visual one: it changes how a race begins, how often you are holding something worth firing, and what a rocket actually does to you when it lands.

What changed

The lights go green while you are already moving

Standing starts are gone. The countdown now runs with the whole field already rolling, and your control cuts in the moment it reaches zero. You arrive at the first corner carrying speed, in traffic, with everyone else doing the same thing.

Armed before you turn a wheel

Every race now hands you a power-up before it starts. That makes the opening seconds a decision instead of a formality: spend it to clear a path through the first corner, or sit on it and keep something in reserve for the car that is about to come past you.

More to pick up out there

Power-ups also spawn more often around the track. There is almost always something worth going slightly out of your way for, which means the fast line and the armed line are not always the same line.

Rockets move you, they do not park you

Take a rocket now and the car flips, but it keeps carrying its speed down the road instead of stopping dead where it was hit. Getting caught costs you places and control, not the whole race, and the wrecks are a lot better to watch.

A full grid all the way to the flag

The entire field now runs the race from start to finish. Whatever lines up alongside you is still out there on the last lap, so a position is something you have to hold rather than something that falls to you.

Getting it

Steam will pull the update for you automatically, and it is a small one, under ten megabytes if you already have the demo installed. If you do not have it, the demo is free on the store page.

Play a few races and tell us on Discord how the rolling starts feel, and whether the extra power-ups make it better or just louder. We read everything, and we are tuning this build ahead of Steam Next Fest from 19 to 26 October.
